I have come to understand that the birthing experience is not just a physical process but a deeply emotional and spiritual journey for both the birthing person and their support team. In the realm of birth work, it's crucial to recognize the significance of fostering a community of collaboration rather than perpetuating a culture of competition. The essence of a thriving birthing community lies in the spirit of support, understanding, and collective empowerment.

In recent times, the birthing world has seen a shift, with more emphasis being placed on collaborative approaches to support birthing persons. However, it is equally important to acknowledge that the competitive culture still looms in the background, casting shadows over the invaluable benefits that a united birth community can bring.

Collaboration over competition is not just a catchphrase; it is a philosophy that can transform the birthing experience and the very fabric of support that we, as doulas, provide. Here's why embracing community over competition is paramount:
